SC8059 is a high power density, fully integrated synchronous boost converter with 16m_power switch and 16m_rectifier switch. It provides high efficiency and small size solutions in portable systems. SC8059 has a wide input voltage range from 2.7V to 20V to support applications of single, two-cell lithium batteries and 12V lead-acid batteries. The device has 14A switching current capability and can provide up to 20V output voltage.

SC8059 uses adaptive constant cut-off time peak current control topology to adjust the output voltage. It works in PWM mode under medium and heavy load conditions. Under light load conditions, the device has two operating modes selected by MODE pins. One is PFM mode to improve efficiency, the other is forced PWM mode to avoid application problems caused by low switching frequency. Switching frequency in PWM mode can be adjusted by external resistance from 200 kHz to 1.4 MHz.

When the gate drive output is disconnected from the external FET, SC8059 can isolate the output from the input side, thereby limiting the load current consumption. SC8059 also realizes programmable soft start function and adjustable switch peak current limit function. In addition, the device provides 22V output overvoltage protection, cycle-by-cycle overcurrent protection and thermal shutdown protection.
